MasterSeries Next Major Version: 2nd Generation Eurocodes – Development Roadmap
For several years, the MasterSeries development team has been working on preparing the software for the transition to the 2nd Generation Eurocodes. This is one of the most significant development projects currently underway in MasterSeries.
We are now at an important stage of this process, with a significant proportion of the new Eurocode requirements already implemented and further National Annexes currently being reviewed and implemented.
As a result, we have decided to take a slightly different approach to our usual major-version release cycle.
The next major MasterSeries version
MasterSeries customers have traditionally expected a new major version around mid-year.
Rather than release a 2026 major version with relatively few headline developments, we have decided to focus our development effort on the 2nd Generation Eurocode implementation and bring these developments together in the next major release.
We are currently targeting the next major MasterSeries version for early 2027.
This release will mark a significant step forward in MasterSeries's continued transition to the 2nd Generation Eurocodes.
Why is the Eurocode implementation taking time?
The transition to the 2nd Generation Eurocodes is progressing gradually.
New Eurocode parts and UK National Annexes are published by the relevant standards authorities at different times. Once a document is officially published, our development team needs to review the requirements, assess their impact on the relevant MasterSeries design modules, implement the necessary changes and carry out testing.

This means that the timing of individual MasterSeries implementations is linked not only to our own development work, but also to the publication of the relevant standards and National Annexes.
Our approach is therefore to implement each area as the relevant official documents become available, while continuing to prepare the wider MasterSeries system for the new generation of design standards.
Where are we now?
The work has already progressed significantly across the different Eurocode parts.
The 2nd Generation Eurocode for Masonry (BS EN 1996-1-1:2022) was one of the first areas to be completed. MasterSeries has implemented both the Eurocode and its UK National Annex and released them in MasterSeries 2025.

Other areas have since progressed through implementation and technical review, including significant parts of the new steel, timber, concrete, composite and geotechnical provisions.

What can customers expect next?
Our immediate development focus is on completing the areas currently in progress, including:
- BS EN 1992-1-1 Concrete and its UK National Annex
- BS EN 1994-1-1 Composite Steel and Concrete
- BS EN 1990 and its UK National Annex
- BS EN 1991-1-4 Wind Actions
- Continued implementation and testing across the other relevant Eurocode areas
For Eurocode parts or National Annexes not yet officially published, we will continue to monitor their progress and review them once the final documents become available.
Our current target is to bring the major elements of this work together in the next major MasterSeries release in early 2027.
A significant investment in the future of MasterSeries
The 2nd Generation Eurocodes represent a major development in the standards governing structural design. Updating MasterSeries to support them is therefore considerably more than a routine annual software update.
A significant part of our current development effort has focused on this work, including reviewing the new requirements, updating the underlying calculations and design procedures, implementing National Annex provisions, and carrying out the necessary testing.
The result will be a MasterSeries platform that is prepared for the continued transition to the latest generation of structural design standards, with further updates possible as additional Eurocode parts and National Annexes are published.
We will continue to provide updates as the implementation progresses and as further Eurocode parts and UK National Annexes are officially published.
